Birmingham City are reportedly rivalling Premier League side Burnley to the potential signing of West Brom youngster Harry Williams according to the Birmingham Live.

The report claims that Williams is currently on trial with Burnley, although it remains to be seen as to whether Sean Dyche's side are leading the race to land his signature.

Williams' current contract with West Brom is set to expire in the summer of 2021, and the Baggies have reportedly told him that he's free to find another club.

He has been with West Brom for three years, but his spell is set to reach a conclusion at the end of the 2020/21 season, and Williams will be eager to have his future resolved at the earliest of opportunities it seems.

The defender has been a regular in the West Brom Under-23s and Under-18s team over the years, but hasn't made a single appearance for the club's first-team, which will be slightly frustrating for the youngster.

But a move to Birmingham City could tempt Williams in the summer, with the Blues showing much-needed improvement under the management of Lee Bowyer in recent weeks.

Bowyer's side are currently sat 18th in the Championship table, and are now nine points clear of the relegation zone, after they picked up three points in their most recent match against Stoke City, as they made it three matches unbeaten in the second-tier.

Birmingham are set to return to action on Sunday, when they face relegation-threatened rivals Rotherham United at the New York Stadium, in what is likely to be a closely-fought battle between the two teams.

The Verdict:

He could be worth a punt for the Blues.

Williams hasn't had an opportunity to impress with the West Brom first-team, and he'll be eager to make a name for himself in senior football in the near future.

Birmingham City will know that they face a tough battle to land his signature though, with the defender currently being on trial with Burnley.

It'll be interesting to see which club he opts to move to ahead of the 2021/22 season.
