Reports from Sky Sports have revealed that Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham are joining the race to sign Oxford United winger Marvin Johnson.

The 26-year-old only signed for the Yellows last season but after an impressive season which saw him score 10 goals and assists a further 15 in a whopping 61 games during the 2016/17 campaign, he now finds himself in high demand.

Understandably given that Harry Redknapp is the current manager of Birmingham, the club has had a very busy transfer window.

10 new players have been brought into bolster up the squad and the veteran manager doesn’t look like he is even close to being finished yet.

The Verdict

This would be a fantastic signing for Birmingham if they can get it done.

Last season, Johnson played in six different positions for Oxford.

The sheer length of a Championship season means that the winger’s versatility alone will make him a key component to a growing squad this season.

His return on goals and assists to games isn’t great but playing with a better side against better opposition might help to improve his talents and numbers.

All in all, for just the reported £1 million Birmingham can’t go wrong with this one.
