Birmingham City hold an interest in signing Everton winger Ademola Lookman on loan, according to a Midlands based journalist.

Tom Heslop is reporting that Birmingham will explore the possibility of signing Lookman on loan for next season with Everton manager Marco Silva keen for the youngster to gain some playing experience in England before making an impact at Goodison Park.

Lookman spent the latter half of last season on loan in the German Bundesliga, playing for Red Bull Leipzig.

The speedy wide man was highly impressive in Germany, scoring five goals in just seven starts (and a further four substitute appearances) as well as notching three assists for team-mates.

He capped the season off with three goals in his last two matches for Leipzig.

Lookman joined Everton from Charlton Athletic in January 2017 and he has netted three goals since; one in the Premier League and two in the Europa League.

Considered to be one of the country's hottest prospects, the England under-21 international had scored 12 in 47 games for the Addicks in the Championship and League One before his switch to Everton.

The Toffees could send the 20-year-old out on loan again this year and Birmingham manager Garry Monk is interested in signing him.

The Verdict

If Birmingham could pull this deal off, they would arguably have one of the finest attacking threats in their ranks.

Not only is Lookman a raw talent with pace, skill and directness, he is also capable of playing up front, on either wing or as a number 10.

With options such as Jacques Maghoma, Jota, Che Adams and Lookman in their attacking ranks, surely Birmingham will be nowhere near the drop next season.

But would they be able to complete this deal? I think Lookman will attract a lot of interest from other Premier League sides and RB Leipzig will want him back.
