Fulham are reportedly looking to add another highly-rated youngster to their squad as they battle it out for Tranmere Rovers defender Declan Drysdale.

The 17-year old is highly regarded by the National League outfit and has already featured for the first-team, whilst he was offered his first professional contract with the club after their play-off defeat to Forest Green Rovers in May.

However, Fulham could face serous competition for the youngster from Birmingham City.

According to Get West London, the teenager has already spent time training in the Midlands at the start of the month.

During the past week, Drysdale did similar with Fulham, but it's unclear where he would go should two serious offers materialise.

He is believed to have impressed staff at Craven Cottage and if he joins, he would be part of a successful youth setup that has regularly produced quality over recent years.

The Verdict

As we have seen over the years, there is plenty of real quality down in non-league football and Fulham are clearly impressed with Drysdale.

Whether a deal comes to fruition remains to be seen, but fans will be pleased to see that the club always have one eye on the future and are looking to build.

Of course, it would be a blow for Tranmere who had hoped the defender would stay in Birkenhead.
