Birmingham City are set to benefit from a 10% sell-on windfall should Che Adams leave Southampton this summer.

The 23-year-old was a key player for Blues during his time in the West Midlands, scoring 22 goals in his final season at St. Andrew's last term.

After flourishing under Garry Monk, Adams left Birmingham to sign for Southampton in the summer, joining the Saints for a reported fee of £15m.

Can you name these 13 hidden ex-Birmingham players?

Adams' move to St. Mary's hasn't gone as planned just yet, though, with the attacker failing to find the net for Ralph Hasenhuttl's side in a total of 27 appearances in all competitions.

In January, Adams was the subject of a reported £19m bid from Leeds United, but a change of heart from Hasenhuttl meant that a move away failed to materialise.

Football Insider have recently claimed, though, that the Saints will now look to sell Adams for a cut-price, and he is likely to now be available for a price of around £10m or lower this summer.

Birmingham will be interested in this potential departure, as they are set to profit from a 10% sell-on clause they inserted when the striker left St. Andrew's in the summer, as per Birmingham Live.

The Verdict

This is shrewd business from Blues, and the truth is, they would have probably been expecting Adams to leave for a much higher fee if he ever left Southampton.

He was one of the best strikers in the EFL before his move to the Saints, but he has struggled to cut it in the top-flight which has tarnished his reputation a little.

Still, the funds will be beneficial for a club like Birmingham who will be looking to strengthen their squad this summer.
