Birmingham City remain hopeful of getting Scott Hogan from Aston Villa in the final weeks of the transfer window, as per Birmingham Live.

The Blues have started this Sky Bet Championship season well with a 1-0 win over last season's beaten play-off finalists Brentford.

Indeed, they are a decent looking unit with Aitor Karanka at the helm but if they can add further in the transfer window before it shuts in October then that would surely be welcome.

It appears, too, that they would like to sort some kind of deal out for Hogan with him excelling in a blue shirt before the halt in the season came around last year.

A player who scores goals at this level when confident, Blues got to see first hand what he could bring to the side and if he can join and replicate that this season who knows what they might be able to do.

The Verdict

Hogan is a good player when he is settled and confident and we saw that at Birmingham before things went awry after the break in the campaign.

Indeed, when play resumed things fell apart for the Blues but this new season brings new hope and there's certainly lots around the club right now so this arrival would undoubtedly excite the fans.
