Birmingham City have completed the signing of forward Jeremie Bela on an initial three-year contract.

The 26-year-old was a free agent after leaving Spanish side Albacete. During his time with the club he established himself as one of most exciting talents in La Liga 2.

He scored a very impressive 11 goals from out wide as the side finished fourth in the league but they then lost in the play-off semi-final.

A summer of turmoil followed for the player as a contract dispute has meant he is yet to play competitively in the current campaign.

However, that is now sorted, with Blues confirming his arrival on their official site this evening. They revealed that Bela has signed a three-year deal with an option to extend that by a further 12 months.

It had previously been stated that Pep Clotet may have to wait until January to use the former Dijon man but that won't be the case, with Bela free to join up with his teammates once international clearance has been granted.

Despite that, it seems highly unlikely he will be involved against Fulham this weekend.

The verdict

This is a very exciting for Birmingham as Bela is someone they have tracked for a while now and his numbers in Spain were very impressive.

Capable of playing in a variety of forward positions, he provides Clotet with another good option and he should ensure they can improve in the final third.

Now, it's about Bela building up his fitness and he will hope to be involved with the first-team in the coming weeks and his arrival is sure to please the support.
