Birmingham City's frustrating start to the season continued at the weekend, with Fulham defeating Pep Clotet's side by a goal to nil at St. Andrew's.

The West Midlands side have endured a mixed start to the 19/20 campaign, and are cemented in midtable after their first 16 matches.

Clotet's men have shown glimpses of quality, but most would argue that they haven't done it consistently enough. They have only managed to record back-to-back wins twice this season and sit 13th in the league standings.

At the weekend, they failed to bounce back after a 4-2 loss to Cardiff City last time out, with Fulham picking up very much of a smash-and-grab win at St. Andrew's.

It was game that had very little quality, and the goal that decided the game was hardly spectacular either. A cross from the right-hand side was spilt by Lee Camp, and the division's top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic was there to tap home.

Another frustrating performance from Camp, then. The 35-year-old has had plenty of critics this season, after making a host of glaring errors thus far this term.

Last month, he gifted Wigan Athletic with a narrow 1-0 win at the DW Stadium when he let Anthony Pilkington's low shot slip underneath him.

And at the weekend, he gifted the Cottagers with a goal, despite what looked to be a relatively easy cross to claim.

Clotet is expected to add fresh faces to his squad in the January transfer window, as he looks to bolster his squad in their push for the play-offs.

And one position that fans will surely be demanding the club to strengthen is in-between the sticks, as Camp continues to struggle in goal for Blues.

Even if he hadn't made plenty of mistakes this season, he is still 35 years of age and is hardly a long-term option, so sooner rather than later, Clotet would need to replace him.

As for his back-up option, Connal Trueman, the 23-year-old hasn't made an appearance for Blues since last August, and has hardly played enough games to suggest that he would capable of starting regularly in the Championship.
