Birmingham City eyeing move to bring former striker back to the club

Birmingham City are reportedly eyeing a surprise move for former striker James Vaughan, according to HITC Sport.

The 28-year-old had a loan spell at Birmingham last season and that was made permanent towards the end of last season but he had his contract cancelled by mutual consent in the summer so he could make his move to League One Bury.

Vaughan never managed a goal for Blues in 17 matches for the West Midlands outfit but he has impressed in the third tier.

The former England under-21 international has netted 14 times in 20 league matches for Bury this season, including an impressive four goals in 20 minutes in Bury’s win over Peterborough this Saturday.

Vaughan started his career at Everton and beat James Milner’s record as the youngest ever goalscorer in the top flight when he was just 16.

He might be tempted to move back to the Championship with Bury firmly stuck in a relegation scrap.
