Birmingham City are the latest club to be linked with a January move for St. Mirren starlet Lewis Morgan.

The winger has enjoyed a terrific run of form over the past six months and has 14 goals in his last 28 games, including five league goals this year which is the second highest in the Scottish Championship.

His sensational form has seen him called up to the Scotland U-21 squad and attract interest from many clubs. According to the Mirror via the Daily Record, Birmingham City are one of them.

The 21-year old is out of contract at the end of the season, so a move seems inevitable, although it will still be hard to prise Morgan to St. Andrew's.

Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers have been credited with an interest along with Premier League Swansea City, whilst Burton Albion had a £200,000 bid rejected in the summer.

Morgan started his career in the Rangers academy but left as a 17-year old to join his current club.

The Verdict

Lewis Morgan is clearly a very talented player, which is evident by the clubs that are tracking him and is sure to leave St. Mirren in January.

If either of the Glasgow clubs come in for him it could be hard for Birmingham to compete, but they may offer a quicker route to the first-team, particularly ahead of Celtic.

Given his contract status, Morgan will prove to be a bargain for someone and Steve Cotterill will be hoping that it's his side.
