Birmingham City have comfirmed the signing of Real Madrid goalkeeper Moha Ramos on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old arrives at St. Andrews on the initial temporary deal but with the Blues including the option to sign the starlet permanently next summer.

Although spending most of his time in the capital with Madrid's reserve side, Ramos found himself on the bench for the senior team ten times last season.

Having now landed his seventh signing of the summer, Pep Clotet is ready to lead the club into their opening game of the season against Brentford on Saturday.

Ramos joins the likes of Jake Clark-Salter, Dan Crowley and Ivan Sunjic in making the move to the West Midlands for what could be a tricky season following the departure of Garry Monk after an impressive campaign.

Despite being made a pre-season tip for relegation, Birmingham managed to comfortably avoid the scrap for survival last season, even posing a brief play-off challenge before being docked nine points in March.

The verdict

This is certainly a position that the Blues needed to strengthen.

Had they headed into the new campaign with Lee Camp once again as their only real option between the sticks, I would have been worried for them.

But Ramos will bring some very good competition. The fact the club have managed to include the option of a permanent deal is also very impressive given how close he had come to the Madrid first-team in the past.

It has been a busy summer for the club and it will be very interesting to watch how the new arrivals assimilate over the course of the coming season.
