Birmingham City have moved to tie down a trio of under-23 players down to fresh terms at St Andrew’s, including Jack Concannon, who has already debuted for the first-team.
An announcement has come from the club’s official media today, confirming that Concannon has agreed fresh terms of a year on the back of a season that’s seen him make the transition from under-23s to first-team.
The attacking midfielder has impressed and scored three goals in the club’s youth side, earning himself a full debut in the FA Cup victory over Coventry City earlier in 2020.

In addition to Concannon, Kane Thompson-Sommers and Mitch Roberts have been rewarded for their fine form in the under-23s with two-year deals.
Thompson-Sommers is another midfield player alongside Concannon, who has scored four goals for the under-23s this season.
Roberts is a defensive player, who plays on the left-side of a centre-back pairing, with the 19-year-old showing real composure for the club’s younger ages over the course of the 2019/20 season.
The next step for Thompson-Sommers and Roberts will be to follow Concannon into first-team recognition under Pep Clotet.

This is good news for Birmingham, who have managed to tie down three really promising players down to new contracts.
Concannon has already shown he’s got enough about him to come into consideration under Clotet, with Thompson-Sommers and Roberts sure to have similar ambitions after these deals.
Now, long-term establishment in the first-team will be the aim for all three.
