According to HITC Sport, Birmingham City are edging towards the signing of Aden Flint.

Bristol City defender Aden Flint has been widely linked with the exit door and it looks like Birmingham City could be about to win the race for the powerful defender.

Having already signed impressive Barnsley defender Marc Roberts this summer, Birmingham City are now eyeing a swoop for Aden Flint.

Last week, Birmingham saw a very public double approach for Aden Flint and Joe Bryan rejected by Bristol City.

However, the West Midlands outfit have not yet given up on Aden Flint as they look to bolster their defensive options.

The 28-year-old has been at Bristol City since moving from Swindon Town in 2013 and he has established himself as a firm fans' favourite at Ashton Gate with his reliable displays.

With 200 Bristol City appearances under his belt, the towering 6ft 5in is now on the verge of leaving the club.

Birmingham City are eager to bring him in with the future of Ryan Shotton looking uncertain.

Marc Roberts lined up alongside Michael Morrison in Birmingham's opening game of the season, which ended in a 1-0 defeat against Ipswich Town.

Now Harry Redknapp wants to bring Aden Flint in to partner Roberts at the back.

Talks are ongoing and Birmingham are hopeful of completing this deal soon.

The Verdict

Aden Flint would undoubtedly add solidity to Birmingham's back line with his experience, aerial presence and leadership skills.

As well as this, he is a goal threat from set pieces and has scored a remarkable 29 goals in his 200 Bristol City games.

The giant centre half is the ideal signing for the Blues if they can get him for the right price.
