Birmingham City are eyeing up a move for Blackburn Rovers defender Charlie Mulgrew, according to Alan Nixon.

The Blues and manager Steve Cotterill are keen on making a few more additions before the January transfer window slams shut this week and could move for Mulgrew, who has been having an impressive season with League One Rovers this term.

Mulgrew, who was a multiple time Scottish Premier League winner with Celtic, has been skippering Rovers this season as they seek an immediate return to the Championship, delivering some excellent performances along the way to draw some admiring glances from the second tier.

The experienced defender has over 30 caps for Scotland and would be exactly the sort of player who could flourish under Blues manager Steve Cotterill, who is trying his hardest to keep the St Andrews club in the Championship following another struggling campaign.

However, Nixon also claims any move Birmingham make is likely to fall on deaf ears at Ewood Park, with the Lancashire club keen to keep hold of their captain.

Birmingham City fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
