Birmingham City boss Garry Monk should consider move for this Middlesbrough man

Birmingham City secured Championship survival by the skin of their teeth for a second successive campaign during 2017/18 and their fans will be hoping for better fortunes next season once boss Garry Monk has got his feet firmly underneath the table.

Monk oversaw a mini revival at the end of the season which ultimately saw the Blues safe for another season, and the challenge for 2018/19 will be to challenge closer to the other end of the Championship table.

In order to achieve such loft ambitions it seems obvious that Monk will need to go out and recruit several new players for his squad and that could mean a raid on one of his former clubs, Middlesbrough.

Grant Leadbitter was a mainstay in Monk’s team during his brief stint at the Riverside Stadium and at 32-years-old he could offer the Blues’ midfield some vital experience, whilst the player could benefit from a fresh start away from the club he has played for since 2012.

The tough-tackling midfielder was an unused substitute for both legs of Boro’s defeat to Aston Villa in the Championship play-offs and that could be an indication that Tony Pulis doesn’t favour him moving forward.

Birmingham City fans, would you welcome Leadbitter at the St. Andrew’s next season? Let us know in the comments below!!!
