Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has confirmed that he will be looking to add ‘four or five’ quality players to the squad in the summer, reports bcfc.com.
Despite still having to play one final game in this current Championship campaign, the former Burton Albion boss has already cast his mind ahead to the summer recruitment scheme.
Without hinting at the players that are on his target list, Rowett did identify that the club would be aiming to secure the services of the player who is top of the list in every area they have highlighted.
“We’ll draw up a list of targets, which we’ve already got and we’ll work through those targets. Hopefully you get your number one targets in every position but the reality is you start working down that list.
“I think a lot of it is down to getting those targets early. We don’t need lots of players but I think we need four or five real quality players and I think that’s going to be the aim.”
It is expected that Rowett will enquire about the availability of on loan trio Robert Tesche from Nottingham Forest, Diego Fabbrini from recently promoted Watford and Rob Kiernan from recently relegated side Wigan Athletic.
Other targets of the club are yet to be revealed but fans can be excited having already seen the transfers that the former player has already brought in, during his first term at the West Midlands side.
In the same press conference, Rowett also discussed his other plans for pre-season which included the development of the side’s training regime.
“There are lots of other preparations in place. Our training schedule, how can we improve the medical side and the sports science side as a group? So there are 101 plans and the fun is just about to start.”
