Championship club Birmingham City are attempting one of the most shocking signings of the summer by bringing Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere to the club on a season-long loan, according to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol.

Wilshere has been told he is free to leave Arsenal following on from his season long loan at Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth during the 2016/17 campaign.

West Ham originally emerged as the favourites to sign the 25-year-old but nothing ever came to fruition with those rumours.

The Arsenal academy graduate has been playing with the U23s this season and infamously got sent off against Manchester City’s U23 after causing a mass fight to break out between the players.

Harry Redknapp has had a very busy summer transfer window so far, bringing in ten new players already with Brentford’s Jota likely to be confirmed before the deadline passes as well.

The Verdict

This could possibly go down as one of the most shocking transfers in deadline day history.

Whilst Wilshere may not be of the quality that is required at Arsenal, here at FLW, we think he still has a lot to offer a Premier League side and a move to Birmingham would be a waste of his abilities.

Of course for Birmingham, this would be a phenomenal signing especially if the player can stay fit like he did, for the most part, at Bournemouth last season.
