Birmingham City have announced that Steve Seddon has left the club to join AFC Wimbledon on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The defender recently returned from his loan spell with Stevenage and was impressive with the League Two side as they mount a play-off charge.

The left-back made 25 appearances, and scored three goals for Stevenage, so it's clear to see that he's got an eye for goal, despite playing in a defensive role.

It had been previously revealed that Birmingham boss, Garry Monk wanted to see Seddon testing himself at a higher level than League Two in the near future, so it's no surprise to see him earning a move to League One.

Seddon is yet to make a first-team appearance, but if he can continue to build on some impressive recent loan spells, then we could see him in the Blues side, sooner rather than later.

AFC Wimbledon are currently sat bottom of the League One table, and the loanee will be hoping to make a positive impact with Wally Downes' side as they battle to stay in the third tier of English football.

Seddon could be in line to make his debut against Barnsley at the weekend, where he'll be looking to get off to the perfect start with a win.

The Verdict:

This is a great move to help aid his development.

Seddon was far too good at League Two level and it will come as no surprise to see him moving to a club that is playing at a higher level.

The youngster has been impressive in recent years, and he'll hope to stake a claim for a place in the Birmingham squad in the near future.
