According to FLW sources, several Championship clubs are keeping tabs on the tough tackling full back, with Birmingham and Blackburn among those interested in the defender.

Wilkinson was released by Mark Hughes this afternoon after a 15-year association with the Potters which saw him rise through the youth academy to make the step-up to first-team football.

In total the 30-year-old made 130 appearances for Stoke and also spent time out on loan at Telford United, Partick Thistle, Shrewsbury Town, Blackpool and Millwall whilst under contract at the Britannia Stadium.

Both Gary Rowett and Gary Bowyer will harbor play-off ambitions next season and a signing of Wilkinson's caliber would represent a significant boost to their squads.

Wilkinson was released by Stoke along with Thomas Sorensen and Wilson Palacios.
