Birkir Bjarnason may have played just six minutes of football for Aston Villa since January, but that doesn't appear to have stopped him from enjoying the club's run of seven wins on the bounce that has seen them become genuine play-off contenders.

That lack of game time suggests that the midfielder's reported decision to remain at the club and fight for his place has backfired, but his latest Instagram post appears to suggest that his morale is still high.

Taking to Instagram following his sides' ten-men come from behind 2-1 victory at relegation-threatened Rotherham on Wednesday night, Bjarnason posted a photo of himself with teammates Alan Hutton; Henri Lansbury and Albert Adomah, along with club coach John Terry, and a caption that simply read "Winning team".

Following Wednesday night's win, Villa now sit fifth in the Championship table, five points clear of the chasing pack ahead of Saturday's crucial clash with play-off rivals Bristol City.

The verdict

Bjarnason latest post appears to suggest that he still hasn't given up hope on a future at Villa Park.

The Icelandic midfielder still seems determined to be a part of the team spirit that has been so crucial to this run for Villa and, even if he doesn't get back into the side, that at least means there won't be any off the field issues created by Bjarnason to distract those doing the work on the pitch.
