Sheffield United captain Billy Sharp has admitted he was 'glad' to beat Wrexham as he criticised the conduct of the non-league side following their FA Cup clash.

The Blades needed a stoppage time effort from their experienced striker to go 2-1 up in the replay, with Sander Berge sealing the victory minutes later to settle a thrilling cup tie at Bramall Lane.

However, speaking to ITV after the game, Sharp made it clear that he wasn't happy with how some at the National League outfit behaved after the 3-3 draw at the Racecourse Ground at the end of January and tonight.

"I am glad we’ve beaten them. They are doing well in their league and we are doing well in ours but I wasn’t happy with a few of their players there. The way they’ve been as a club before the game, eyeing up Spurs before the game. They had not even beaten us.

"They thought we would just roll over when they got back in it and I think the referee was helping them as well, I don’t think he gave me one foul all night."

The verdict

We obviously don't know what has gone on between the players on the pitch but this does seem slightly surprising from Sharp considering he is a senior player who will have seen a lot in the game.

Of course, Wrexham were always going to be the story going into the game due to their high-profile owners and the fact they're a non-league side, whilst they deserve plenty of credit for the way they played - which Sharp gave them in fairness.

But, he obviously wasn't happy overall however the main thing for Sharp is that Sheffield United have set up the exciting tie with Spurs in the next round.
