West Bromwich Albion manager Slaven Bilic has suggested that West Ham's decision to allow attacker Grady Diangana to remain at the Hawthorns for the rest of the campaign is the best possible option for all parties, ahead of the Baggies' trip to Hull on Saturday.

Diangana has been one of West Brom's most influential attacking players so far this campaign, having arrived on a season-long loan from West Ham in the summer, and the winger has contributed four goals and four assists to help the Baggies secure eight wins from their opening 15 games, to sit top of the Championship table.

That had created some suggestions that West Ham could recall Diangana in the January window, but Manuel Pellegrini suggested in his press conference ahead of the Hammers' trip to Burnley on Saturday that he would rather see the winger play the full season on loan at West Brom than recall him in January.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of West Brom's trip to Hull City on Saturday, Bilic suggested that Diangana remaining at the Hawthorns for the rest of the campaign will be best for all parties, saying: "I really think that for us, for West Ham and for Grady, it’ll best for him to stay and to grow up as a player.

"Grady is nowhere near the finished article. He’s a young player who is enjoying it.

"It’s his first season where he’s an important part of the team that is fighting for something.

"I’m not only talking about the pressure and everything, it’s also off the pitch. It’s great for him. He’s on a great path, he’s enjoying every game.

"He’s raising his game, he’s growing and it would, for me, not be good for him and also for West Ham long term – and for us, of course – to stop that process."

The Verdict

This latest update that Diangana looks likely to stay at West Brom past the January window, is a real boost to the Baggies, as Bilic alludes to, with the winger improving from week to week and offering a vital attacking threat in terms of his ability to both create and take chances.

As Bilic suggests that whilst Diangana is full of talent and ability it is important that he continues to work on his game, and West Brom appears the best place for him to do that under the pressure of trying to help the Baggies secure promotion back to the Premier League.

Diangana remaining at West Brom for the full season will only benefit the Baggies in terms of them keeping hold of key player, but also both the winger who will continue his development with the regular game time and West Ham who should see the improvement in him upon his return next season.
