Watford have rejected a £25m offer from Crystal Palace for Ismaila Sarr, as per the Daily Mail's Sami Mokbel.

The Eagles are contemplating a new offer for the 22-year-old as the clock ticks closer to the 5pm transfer deadline.

The Senegalese winger has been one of the most sought-after players in the EFL this summer, with Manchester United credited with interest in the player earlier in the window.

Sarr enjoyed an impressive campaign for the Hornets last season despite the Hertfordshire club's relegation from the Premier League, with him notching five goals and recording four assists for the club in 28 appearances.

Crystal Palace had been linked with another EFL winger in the form of Said Benrahma but it appears their pursuit of the Algerian has ended, with them now looking to agree a deal with Watford for Sarr ahead of the 5pm deadline.

Sarr has made two starts for Vladimir Ivic's Watford side so far this season, with his future still firmly in limbo as Palace weigh up a new bid.

The verdict

He's a talented player and it's no surprise to see these sort of figures be bandied about for Sarr.

I expect Watford will want over £30m for one of their most prized assets, and it will all now depend on whether Palace feel it is financially viable to up their initial £25m bid ahead of the 5pm deadline.
