Plenty of Bristol City fans have reacted on social media after the club announced that attacking midfielder Jamie Paterson has joined Championship rivals Derby County on a season-long loan.

The 27-year-old was a key player for Bristol City in the Championship last season, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 41 league appearances as the Robins just missed out on the play-offs.

The attacking midfielder has joined Derby on a season-long loan, although Bristol City will have the option to recall him in January.

He will not be able to play against his parent club when the two teams meet in the Championship this season.

Bristol City finished eighth in the Championship table last season, four points outside the play-off places.

Head coach Lee Johnson has brought in eleven new players this summer as he looks to build a team that can challenge for promotion again this term.

Paterson joined Bristol City from Nottingham Forest in 2016 and went on to score 16 goals in 114 appearances during his time at Ashton Gate.

The forward became a fans' favourite at Ashton Gate and plenty of Bristol City supporters took social media to react to the news that the club had decided to send him out on loan.
