Leeds United will enter the 2017/18 Championship under the stewardship of former APOEL boss Thomas Christiansen.
The 44-year-old was announced as Garry Monk’s successor last week following the surprise resignation of the 38-year-old, as he failed to agree a new long-term deal at Elland Road despite leading the club to seventh in the division last term.
Nonetheless, the Yorkshire outfit will likely be looking forward to a new era under Christiansen, who led Cypriot side APOEL to the domestic league title in his first season in management last season, and will inherit a squad of players that finished just five points adrift of the top six last time out.
And Christiansen was presented to the press on Monday for the first time since taking over the reins at Elland Road, and it was revealed during that press conference that Monk’s backroom team, including Pep Clotet, would probably be leaving the club as a result.
40-year-old Clotet joined former Swansea boss Monk as his assistant last summer after working together at Swansea, and was even one of the bookmakers’ favourites to replace the 38-year-old as head coach prior to Christiansen’s arrival.
And Clotet’s departure has stimulated quite the response from Leeds fans on Twitter, with many disappointed to see the Spaniard leave the club…
