As the Championship season enters its final straight, Derby County are sitting just one point outside the play-off spots.

But the Rams have experienced a dip in form as of late, having recorded just one win in their last seven matches.

Frank Lampard's side were held to a goalless draw at home to Stoke City in their last outing in what was the latest dent to their promotion hopes.

This comes after Derby have notoriously failed to win promotion in recent years, despite regularly looking poised for the top-flight before flagging off as the season draws to a close. In fact, the Rams have finished in the top ten during the last six campaigns without ever sealing a Premier League spot.

But Lampard has re-energised the club this season with loan players and academy graduates supplementing the squad nucleus already in place. However, his side have now slipped below Preston and Aston Villa in the race for sixth place following a string of mediocre results.

Despite promising early signs, Lampard now looks at risk of suffering the same poisoned chalice that inflicted those before him at Pride Park
