Striker Marc McNulty has been recalled from his loan spell at Sunderland by Reading, the League One promotion-chasers have confirmed.

McNulty had joined Sunderland on a season-long loan back in the summer transfer window, and scored five goals in 21 appearances in all competitions for the Black Cats, although he has fallen down the pecking order since the appointment of Phil Parkinson as the club's new manager in October.

It has now been announced that that deal has been cut short, with Scottish Premiership side Hibernian now confirming that McNulty has returned to the club on loan until the end of the season.

The striker previously spent the second half of last season on loan at Easter Road, during which time he made a total of 17 appearances for Hibs, scoring eight goals.

Taking to Twitter to react to the news of McNulty's departure from the Stadium of Light, a number of Sunderland fans appeared disappointed by the 27-year-old's exit.

Here, we take a look at what some of them had to say.
