Speaking to the press in his pre-match press conference yesterday afternoon, Scott Parker offered an update on Tom Cairney's fitness.

The midfielder missed their last game - a win at Nottingham Forest - and is set to miss more big matches in the near future by the sound of things.

According to his manager, he is definitely out of contention for the Cardiff City match tonight at Craven Cottage, and it remains touch and go for the big one against West Brom next week.

Parker said:

The Verdict

Fulham have seen results pick up with Aleksandar Mitrovic suspended and Cairney injured since, but they are bound to want both back in the side.

The Serbian's return is looking a lot closer than Cairney's, though, with the midfielder potentially set to miss two big games as the Lilywhites try to earn promotion back into the Premier League.

The game with West Brom is obviously the biggest one for them left, in terms of the top two.

If they can beat a play-off challenging Cardiff tonight, and then beat the Baggies, automatic promotion is still possible - though Brentford are obviously a big part of the picture as well.

Having Cairney fit for that one would be a big boost, then, but it remains to be seen if they'll have him.
