Leeds United were hit with a frustrating injury blow ahead of the second-leg of their play-off semi-final against Derby County on Wednesday.

Marcelo Bielsa revealed in a pre-match press conference ahead of the game (quotes sourced from Leeds Live, 12:04pm), that Kemar Roofe is set to miss out with a calf injury.

Roofe looked back to his best in the first-leg of the tie, as he netted the goal that proved to be the difference between the two sides at the weekend.

He has previously struggled in front of goal since returning from a spell in the treatment room earlier this year, and will have been full of confidence heading into the second-leg after such an impressive display.

But his latest injury means that he's in a race against time to be fit in time for the play-off final later this month, providing that Leeds can make it there.

One man that will certainly have to take his chance in the side now that Roofe is out of action, is Patrick Bamford who will feel as though this could be his last chance to stake a claim for a regular starting spot in Bielsa's squad.

Bamford is another player that has struggled in front of goal for Leeds, which will be of concern to Marcelo Bielsa, especially given that he is the only recognised senior striking option for their second-leg against Derby.

If he can't find his scoring boots before the season is up, then an interesting summer awaits for Bamford at Elland Road, with promotion a possibility.

If Leeds are to return to the Premier League, then you have to feel that Bamford could be heading for the exit door, as the Whites are almost certain to strengthen their attacking options as they adjust to life back in the top-flight.

It's a make or break moment in the season for both Leeds and Bamford, and the former Chelsea man needs to grasp this opportunity with both hands, or his future at the club could be up in the air in the summer.
