Pablo Hernandez is a real favourite at Leeds United and this season, under Marcelo Bielsa, he’s arguably finding the best form he has during his spell in West Yorkshire.

Leeds’ style under Bielsa is fluid and very continental, which suits Hernandez down to the ground.

The 33-year-old is thriving and played another key role in Leeds’ 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

He’s the latest feature of our FLW Spotlight:

In 86 minutes, Hernandez had four shots on goal and provided Kemar Roofe for Leeds’ equalising goal on the stroke of half-time.

Other areas of Hernandez’s game were superb, with the former Swansea winger making 44 passes, two of which were long balls and four of them key.

Those passes came at a success rate of 77%, with Hernandez accurate in almost everything he did against the R’s.

The Verdict

It’s fair to say that Hernandez has played better this season, but everything Leeds did well against the R’s, he was involved in yet again.

Hernandez is playing the best football he has for Leeds, and to add to that, the Spaniard is now carrying the captain’s armband in the absence of Liam Cooper in the coming weeks.

When Hernandez is at this level, it’s hard to see beyond a sustained challenge on promotion from Leeds. He’s simply that good.

Bielsa will be delighted that his most experienced player is leading the charge to get Leeds’ young squad back to the top table of English football.
