Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa appeared to take responsibility for the Whites' defeat at West Brom last night.

The Argentinian manager looked on in despair as his side succumbed with ease to an excellent performance from the Baggies, who ultimately finished Leeds off 4-1 to rocket themselves back into the playoff places in the Championship.

And following the game, Bielsa spoke to the official Leeds Twitter account, and said he took full responsibility for what happened at the Hawthorns.

The admission from Bielsa is a big one, and takes the pressure off his players somewhat, who have performed more than admirably for him since he took over in the summer.

However, there will be an element of worry for Bielsa, who has seen how easily his side can be undone if things do not go to plan, something he will no doubt be keen to address over the international break if possible.

Leeds have a break now before returning to action for what will be a crucial winter period for the Elland Road outfit.

The verdict

This is classic experienced management from a veteran of the game.

Much like Alex Ferguson used to do, there is no need to go slating your own players in public, and Bielsa taking the flak for the result will be a big boost to the Leeds players.

It's this sort of stuff what gets players playing for you, and Leeds are lucky to have a man like Bielsa in charge.
