Leeds United are flying high at the top of the Championship this season, with new manager Marcelo Bielsa one of the key reasons behind the Whites' success.

The Argentinian manager has been a breath of fresh air in the the English game and he will be hoping to lead the Elland Road club to the Premier League come the end of his tenure.

However, Bielsa has reportedly moved to name his successor, with a report from the Daily Star via South American outlet Diario Expreso claiming Bielsa has named former Mexico manager Juan Carlos Osorio as the man he feels should step into his boots at Elland Road.

Osorio and Bielsa are well known acquaintances and good friends, and the Leeds manager is clearly impressed enough with the 57-year-old Colombian to name him as the one he sees as the next in line in the Leeds hotseat.

Experienced coach Osorio has a wealth of knowledge in the game and has spent time with various clubs, including the New York Red Bulls in the MLS and Sao Paulo in Brazil. He moved into international management with Mexico in 2015, before moving to Paraguay in 2018.

Osorio would be a relative unknown addition to the ranks in the English game, but with Bielsa's endorsement it might just be something what pricks the ears of onlooking clubs.

The Verdict

You can read into this what you like but Bielsa will no doubt know his coaches and Osorio is clearly a man of experience and knowledge.

Leeds fans will hope Bielsa is not on his way out though, and they will want to see their manager take them all the way if possible.
