Leeds United are going through a tense time on the transfer front - though Marco Bielsa should be some attraction.

The Whites are looking at deals for the likes of Derby striker Matej Vydra to boost their squad ahead of the new season.

But so far, that, and little else, has come to fruition.

The only signing Bielsa has been able to complete is a loan deal for Chelsea midfielder Lewis Baker.

Baker wouldn’t be at Leeds if it wasn’t for the Bielsa, according to the managing director.

And his name will have the biggest influence for United this season.

Would Vydra sign for a Graham Potter? That is up for debate.

If Leeds are to sign the quality of player that they are linked with, then having Bielsa at the helm will only aid their pursuit of top-end Championship quality players.

Baker is in his fifth loan spell of his career and with Bielsa there to help him, Leeds could be in for a feast when watching the 23-year-old maraud around the pitch.

Baker was a hit in Vitesse Arnhem last season during his loan spell there, scoring against a big rival and banging in two identical 30-yard curlers.

In possession, the England U21 star is comfortable, an old head on young shoulder who will take charge in the middle and orchestrate the play - but needs to improve defensively if he loses possession.

That is the first of what could be an exciting summer at Leeds with Bielsa at the helm, and it is a positive one.

It has been quiet on the transfer front due to the World Cup but once football is home, Leeds should expect a plethora of pen-to-paper announcements as the window's close approaches.
