Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa praised the performance and ability of debutant Jack Clarke during yesterday's 1-1 draw with Brentford.

Speaking to Leeds Live, the Argentinian manager expressed his delight at the 17-year-old, who was introduced as a second half substitute and did not look out of his depth for the Whites as they continued to show their promotion credentials.

“I’m particularly happy for his performance because he answered in a game that was very difficult and he didn’t have any personality problem to assume and express his skills,” he said.

Bielsa also praised the Elland Road academy in general, offering further comment to single out the quality of the development Clarke has had.

“And we give a lot of credit to what the academy brings to the first team, so I would like to thank the academy for all of the good players they are giving us. He’s a young player, 17-years-old and he has very good skills and we can see the formation he received.”

The introduction of Clarke was yet another plus for Leeds fans who have seen their team have an excellent campaign so far this term.

Despite having a talented squad to select from with a few big name signings involved, Bielsa will be keen to develop players at the same time, and bringing on the likes of Clarke into a big game with a playoff rival will be seen as big plus for the club.

Leeds fans, what did you make of Clarke's performance? Can he go on to become a star? Let us know in the comments!
