Marcelo Bielsa has claimed that it is too early to call Leeds United a strong team in the Championship, insisting there is room for improvement despite a fine start to the season.

Leeds have made an exceptional start under Bielsa, with the Whites boasting the only remaining unbeaten record in the Championship.

The Whites have 18 points following five victories and three draws, with Bielsa’s side playing a fluid brand of football to match.

Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post has been providing updates from Bielsa’s pre-Birmingham City press conference, with the Argentinian highlighting that a long pre-season and his analysis of Leeds’ squad has helped his tactics stick.

However, despite a strong start to the season, Bielsa wasn’t willing to admit that Leeds were a strong side, highlighting the draws with Middlesbrough and Millwall as tough matches, before stressing there is room for improvement.

Leeds will be looking to make it nine unbeaten against Birmingham on Saturday afternoon, whilst the Blues go in search of their first victory of the season under Garry Monk.

The Blues have six points to their name this season, having drawn six of their eight fixtures so far.

The Verdict

Bielsa remains very modest about the work he’s done at Elland Road, which has to be described as superb.

However, it is exciting for Leeds’ supporters to learn that Bielsa thinks the Whites can improve.

Leeds’ fans have been treated already this season, so if things can get better, they’ll be delighted.
