Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has played a major part in the Whites season so far, with his contribution playing a big part in Leeds sitting on top of the Championship, with over half of the season played.

This form can only have a positive effect on the 27-year-old's value, but in light of the £12 million fee paid by Bournemouth, for Brentford centre-back Chris Mepham.

It has to be asked, how much is Jansson worth in today's market?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

“It’s hard to put values on players because there’s so many factors.

“I could say £15m, but what if the spending club are Chelsea and they’re keen for a centre back?

“Then it goes to £25m.

“Right now I think £15m would be the going rate, maybe.”

Jacob Potter

"Between £15m-£20m.

"Jansson is one of the best defenders in the Championship, and has the ability to be playing in the Premier League to be honest.

"Leeds won’t be selling him, but if they were tempted, they should be considering a hefty fee for his services."

Jay Taylor

“Considering Mepham is seven years Jansson’s junior, the significance behind his cost is clearer.

“Potential is a huge selling point and a chance for clubs to upscale offers.

“Jansson is probably worth around the same as the now Bournemouth man.

“If he was five years younger, I would say around £20 million – but he isn’t so around £12 million is a fair shout.”
