Some Cardiff City fans have taken to Twitter to react to Gavin Whyte's cameo performance for Northern Ireland in their Euro 2020 qualifier against Germany.

The winger was introduced as a second-half substitute by manager Michael O'Neill and made an immediate impact at Windsor Park by taking the game to Joachim Low's side.

After bursting past Marcel Halstenberg, Whyte produced a pinpoint deliver for Stuart Dallas who fired agonisingly wide of the far post.

Before being brought on as a replacement for Niall McGinn, the winger watched on from the sidelines as his side twice came close to opening the scoring in the first-half of the clash through Conor Washington who faltered in-front of goal.

Northern Ireland were made to rue these missed opportunities as Germany took the lead almost immediately after half-time as Halstenberg fired in a stunning half-volley.

Low's side then had a number of efforts saved by Bailey Peacock-Farrell before Dallas squandered his chance to become a hero.

With Northern Ireland pushing for an equaliser, Germany scored a second in stoppage time as Serge Gnabry sealed all three points with a composed finish.

As a result of this defeat, the Green and White Army slipped to second in their group with just three games left to play.

Having witnessed Whyte deliver a positive performance against Germany, some Cardiff fans praised the winger on Twitter.

Here are some of best responses from the club's supporters...

Whyte will be hoping to help Cardiff secure victory on Friday when they head to Pride Park to face Derby County in the Championship.
