Ipswich Town have recalled young midfielder Idris El Mizouni from his loan spell at League Two outfit Cambridge United, the club have confirmed.
The Frenchman moved to the Abbey Stadium on a season-long loan, although the Tractor Boys have decided to cancel the deal with immediate effect.
El Mizouni signed his first professional contract with Ipswich just more than two years ago, but made the switch to Cambridge in the summer in order to gain valuable first-team experience having featured just 13 times in their previous two seasons for the Portman Road outfit.
The ultimate 2021 Ipswich Town quiz – Can you get 24/24 correct?
Having spent two months with the U’s at the start of 2020, the 20-year-old returned to play under Mark Bonner, and has featured 15 times in all competitions during the first-half of this season.
El Mizouni has impressed for Cambridge, who sit 5th in the League Two standings following their win over Grimsby Town on Saturday, although the youngster didn’t feature – with his final outing for the club coming in their defeat at Stevenage last Tuesday.
Here’s how the Ipswich faithful have reacted on Twitter to the club recalling El Mizouni:
doubt he’ll get much game time anyway but not a bad idea
