Coventry City have finally signed Conor Chaplin after a lengthy pursuit.

Chaplin joins the Sky Blues from Portsmouth on an initial loan, with the deal set to become permanent in January for a pre-set undisclosed fee, the club's official website reports.

Coventry have been searching for a new striker to provide competition for Amadou Bakayoko, Jordy Hiwula and Jonson Clarke-Harris for a while and this search was made more pressing when Max Biamou was hit with a long-term injury.

Portsmouth had been reluctant to let their academy product leave until signing a replacement but the arrival of Aston Villa youngster Andre Green on loan has pushed this deal through.

The 21-year-old, who came through Pompey's academy, has scored 25 senior goals already in his career, most of which have come from the bench.

With well over 100 appearances to his name, Chaplin is a highly rated young striker with a bright future.

Here are how some Coventry fans reacted to Chaplin's much-anticipated arrival at The Ricoh Arena.
