Derby County endured a tough afternoon on Saturday as they were held to a 0-0 draw against Swansea City in Phillip Cocu's first home game in charge.

Whilst the result wasn't what the Dutchman wanted, with Martyn Waghorn missing from the spot to add to the frustration, there were positives for the Rams to take as they made it four points from six.

One of those was undoubtedly the display of centre-back Matt Clarke.

The left-footer joined on a season-long loan from Brighton after joining the Seagulls from Portsmouth in the summer.

Capable on the ball, he is also a very strong defender and has developed a good understanding with Richard Keogh since arriving at the east Midlands outfit.

Even though he had big shoes to fill, replacing Player of the Year Fikayo Tomori who returned to Chelsea, it's fair to say the 22-year-old has made a good impression in his first two games.
