Plenty of football fans have taken to social media to react to the reported news that Derby County will not be throwing a playersâ Christmas party this year.
The Athletic reported earlier today that the Derby squad and playing staff all agreed to cancel the Christmas party.
The decision comes after Ex-Derby captain Richard Keogh suffered a serious injury in a car accident following a team-bonding night out in September.
Keogh sustained a season-ending knee injury in the crash - which saw his Derby teammates Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett charged with drink-driving.
Lawrence and Bennett were both banned from driving for two years and fined six weeks' wages by Derby, while Keogh had his contract terminated by the club for 'gross misconduct'.
According to The Athletic, the club have decided that it would be sensible to cancel the players' Christmas party this year. Instead, the players will attend a Christmas lunch, which is normally reserved for club staff only.
