Derby County put all of their off-field issues aside to beat Stoke City 2-1 yesterday afternoon at Pride Park.
The Rams came into the game having announced their intention to appoint administrators for the club with the clubs off-field issues finally catching up with them.
But it was Max Bird who stole the headlines-on his 21st birthday no less – as he put Derby ahead with a goal from 3o yards just past the half-hour mark.
Are these 22 Derby County stats real or fake?
Curtis Davies doubled the lead with a looping header only a few minutes later with Derby holding onto the lead after Tom Ince pulled one back for the visitors midway through the second half.
Not only did Max Bird get on the scoresheet but he marshalled the midfield with maturity well beyond his years with a performance that left many Derby fans delighted with.
And it was a doubly special day for the youngster as well who was celebrating his 21st birthday and he capped it with a goal and a top performance.
