A number of Bristol City supporters have been reacting to the latest reports that the Robins are close to wrapping up a new contract for forward Andreas Weimann.
Weimann was one of two players that Bristol City revealed in their retained list that they were in talks with over a new potential deal. That comes with the 29-year-old’s current deal with the club set to expire and them being at risk of losing him on a free transfer.
The potential availability of Weimann this summer has seen him attract some transfer interest. It was reported by the Stoke Sentinel that Stoke City were potentially interested in bringing in the 29-year-old on a free transfer as they aim to bolster their attacking options heading into next season.
However, according to the latest report from Bristol Live, the Robins are thought to be close to securing his future by agreeing a new contract with him this summer.
The report added that a medical has been scheduled for later on in the week and that confirmation over Weimann extending his deal with the club is expected in the near future.

As good as a new signing, we missed his quality and his off the ball work so much last year!

Absolutely vital. Experience, quality, scorer, provider. Probably be the best signing of the summer. The kind of person you want the younger lads learning from

So so key. We looked so good start of last season when he was playing. And went downhill after he got injured. He offers the energy and work rate that no other player in the squad offers

Vital at this point, how many players do we have that work like he does. He is the sort of player that dictates the game, if he has a bad game more than likely we lose, he is just that instrumental and that showed last season

I would say it's more important than something that is very very very important.

Didn't realise how important he is to us until he wasn't there Top Man https://t.co/E6p6J4DeVT

Weird how a year ago many wouldn’t have had him in the team or been bothered about his contract.
The realisation of the work rate we missed last season has changed lots of perceptions https://t.co/iph5v7OEiE
