Sunderland gave their hopes of promotion from League One this season yet another boost on Tuesday night, as they beat Rochdale 3-0 at the Stadium of Light.

That win was Sunderland's seventh in their last ten league games, and moves Phil Parkinson's side to within four points of the automatic promotion places in the League One table.

Three first-half goals were enough to secure the points for Sunderland against 'Dale, with Lynden Gooch netting twice, volleying in a Chris Maguire cross for the opener, before firing home from inside the area just past the half-hour mark to make it 3-0.

Between that Gooch, had also played in Chris Maguire, allowing him to force an own goal that had at the time made it 2-0 to the Black Cats.

Gooch's double on Tuesday takes his individual goal tally in the league to nine for the season, meaning he is now just one behind Maguire at the top of the club's League One scoring charts.

Taking to Twitter to react to Gooch's performance on Tuesday, plenty of Sunderland fans appeared delighted with the showing from the American attacker, and here, we take a look at what some of those fans had to say.
