The first half of the campaign may not have gone exactly to plan for Carlos Carvalhal and his Sheffield Wednesday side, but just six points off the playoffs, the Owls are certainly in with a shot at a top-six finish.
Draws have restricted the club’s progress this season, with successive ties with Reading, Ipswich and Bristol City limiting the Owls to eleventh place.
Carvalhal will know that these single points must be turned into three if his side are to progress, and will look to address the issue this weekend when strugglers Hull City come to town.
The Portuguese has been provided with an excellent injury update in the build-up to the game, which he shared with fans today during his pre-match press conference.
Talismanic striker Fernando Forestieri has returned to running without pain, and is expected to be available for selection in the new year.
The Argentine’s absence has played a serious role in Wednesday’s failings this season, and his return to action cannot come soon enough.
