Sheffield Wednesday’s lengthy injury list has certainly hindered the club’s top-six chance this season in the Sky Bet Championship, with a play-off push looking almost impossible at Hillsborough in the coming months.

That lengthy injury list has also hindered Jos Luhukay’s start to management in English football, with the Dutchman finding his resources at Hillsborough extremely limited.

Luhukay has been forced to hand a number of younger players immense responsibility in the Championship, including Jordan Thorniley, who has made five appearances under his management.

The 21-year-old has today signed a new contract at Hillsborough committing his long-term future to the Owls with a deal that runs until the summer of 2021.

Thorniley has made a classy impact since his first-team promotion earlier in 2018, with the Hillsborough faithful understandably delighted with the club’s eagerness to tie the youngster down to fresh terms.
