Cardiff picked up their first point at home this season on Wednesday, holding Bournemouth to a 1-1 draw in South Wales.

Neil Harris' men have endured a tricky opening month of the campaign and have already suffered shock defeats to both Sheffield Wednesday and Reading at the Cardiff City Stadium.

It looked like Cardiff were on their way to yet another setback on home soil after Dominic Solanke's close-range finish fired the Cherries into a first-half lead.

But the Bluebirds hit back after the interval thanks to Harry Wilson's first Cardiff goal since joining on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool on Deadline Day.

However, had it not been for the heroics of City goalkeeper Alex Smithies, the hosts would have found themselves with a mountain to climb before Wilson swept home.

11 minutes into the second-half, Solanke almost guaranteed to double Bournemouth's lead from close-range, but the Bluebirds shot-stopper somehow pulled off what can only be described as a miraculous save from point-blank range to keep the score at 1-1.

Quiz: Have Cardiff ever loaned out any of these 9 players?

Smithies is already a popular figure in South Wales - with plenty of Cardiff supporters claiming that he's the best keeper in the Championship.
