Oxford United have completed the season-long loan signing of Bristol City forward Matty Taylor, the League One side have now confirmed.

The 29-year-old began his career at the Kassam Stadium, before enjoying spells with Forest Green Rovers, Chester and Bristol Rovers in the National League.

The striker netted 61 goals in 118 league games for the latter during his three-year stay at the Memorial Stadium, but his move to Ashton Gate in January 2017 certainly raised eyebrows in Bristol.

Taylor has since found the back of the net just nine times in 75 games for the Robins, and has played just 15 minutes of football after falling behind Benik Afobe and Famara Diedhiou in the pecking order this term.

But now, Oxford have completed the season-long loan signing of Taylor, with City holding the option to recall him in the January transfer window. Coincidentally, his first appearance for the U's could come against Rovers this weekend, unless he features against Burton Albion tomorrow night.

Oxford have made a solid start to the 2019/20 campaign, but their 2-1 loss to Blackpool at the weekend only highlighted their need for a new striker, after squandering numerous chances.

Here, we take a look at how Bristol City fans have reacted to this temporary departure...
