Cardiff City crashed out of the FA Cup on penalties following their 3-3 draw with Reading after extra time in their fourth-round replay tie on Tuesday night.

The Bluebirds raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of strikes from Josh Murphy and Robert Glatzel before Omar Richards and Andy Rinomhota got the Royals back level, and Murphy then scored his second in extra time before Yakou Meite made it 3-3.

Mark Bowen's side then won the penalty shoot-out in comfortable fashion as they sealed a 4-1 win as Aden Flint and Will Vaulks mised Cardiff's first two penalties, with this ensuring Reading are to progress to face Sheffield United in the next round.

The result means Cardiff have now won just two of their last eight matches in all competitions, but there were some positives for Neil Harris with Murphy producing a fine display which saw him find the net twice in his fourth straight FA cup start this term.
