Berahino starts: The predicted Sheffield Wednesday XI to face Wycombe on Saturday

Published

on

Sheffield Wednesday have a League One play-off place in their own hands – and in order to ensure they stay within the top six, they’ll need to see off fellow challengers Wycombe this weekend.

The Owls have still even got a chance of the automatic promotion places and whilst they will be a lot harder to achieve, they’ll want to rack up as many points as possible to ensure that they can at least keep themselves in the race for it.

With the Owls currently in fourth and with three games left, they are well and truly in charge of their own destiny. Having gone unbeaten in their last eight league games too, they will fancy their chances of extending that run here.

Here then, is how they could line up for this clash with Wycombe at Adams Park on Saturday afternoon.

The good news for Darren Moore is that he is set to have plenty of players back for the run-in soon.

Sam Hutchinson could be back in the mix for the Wycombe game but after some time out, he might only find a place on the bench today.

Harlee Dean is another name that may or may not be in the reckoning too and while Josh Windass is not fit enough for this game against the Chairboys, he could be back for the next fixture.

In terms of the line-up for this game then, it could be completely unchanged from the side that beat Crewe 1-0 – as why change a winning team?

Saido Berahino upfront didn’t have his best game last time out but is still capable of firing in the goals and Lee Gregory alongside him has been reliable and dependable for the Owls.

On the flanks, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing was a thorn in Crewe’s side last game and continually bombed up and down the wing to challenge offensively and put in a shift defensively if needed. The same can be said for Jack Hunt on the right.

Only die-hard Sheffield Wednesday supporters will get at least 20/25 on this higher or lower quiz

The capacity of Hillsborough is higher or lower than 35,000

In the centre, everything flows through Barry Bannan and if he is fit, then he is the first name on the teamsheet. He could also be a banker for the Player of the Season award in the entire division too.

At the back, Marvin Johnson continues to thrive and excel and is undroppable currently and Jordan Storey alongside him – who is on loan from Preston – has made a real difference since his move to Hillsborough on a short-term deal.
